New humidity sensor of the Marquardt-Group
Sensor determines humidity
The new humidity sensor of the Marquardt-Group is an innovation for the household appliances industry. The capacitive humidity sensor of the 2068 series is designed for use in clothes dryers for example to determine the drying factor of the laundry by humidity.
The advantages of the sensor: Because of the direct measurement of the humidity in comparison with existing systems, the remaining moisture and time left to run of the dryer can be determined exactly independently of the amount and type of washing. The special form and a seal with a PTFE diaphragm protect the sensor against blockage by lint and against condensation on the inside throughout its service life.
The capacitive humidity measuring method exploits the high permeability value of the water: A polymer that can absorb and emit water molecules is used as a dielectric. The capacitance changes depending on the moisture absorbed by the measuring capacitor. The measuring capacitor of the Marquardt sensor is located together with the electronic evaluation unit on an ASIC chip. A linearized, temperature-compensated digital signal is transmitted as an output signal. The relative humidity or dew point can be output optionally together with the temperature.
The independent family company, Marquardt GmbH, with its Head Office in Germany, develops and manufactures a large selection of switches, switching systems and sensors for use in vehicles, power tools, white goods, locking systems, safety devices, components for signalling technology, medical appliances and many more. With about 4500 employees Marquardt produces globally at eleven locations the successfully established products. |
